Aim of the Study
The aim of the study was to investigate the impact of colour on the perception and wellbeing of students in educational environments. By analysing practice-based case studies, Yamamoto offers insights into how colour plans can be applied to improve both the aesthetics and the functionality of educational facilities.

Case Study 1: University of Tsukuba
The first case study focuses on the renovation of ageing student dormitories at the University of Tsukuba. Here, accent colours were used that were matched to the shape of the buildings, with the same base colours used for adjacent buildings to create harmony and unity. The aim was to give the buildings a “student-like brightness,” together with a sense of warmth and individuality.
